Mailboxes with extensions are called “trees". A tree account begins with a main menu number and has several different extensions (or ”branches") leading off the main menu. Your callers will dial the main menu voicemail number and hear your personally recorded company greeting instructing them on how to reach your specific extension (i.e. press 1 to leave a message for Joe, press 2 to leave a message for Steve, etc.). Your callers will then be transferred to your individual voicemail number to leave a message.

Your messages will stay private as they can only be accessed through your specific voicemail number using your own selected passcode. With a tree account, you can eliminate the need for messages to be passed from person to person and make it easier for customers, suppliers, and business associates to directly contact the person they need.
